Light up the night
Question: Will the light bulb light up with Plain water, Sugar water or Salt water?
Hypothesis: The light bulb lights up with Salt Water.
Safety Tips and Warnings
For the brightest light make sure that there is a clear path between the electrodes , that the solution is a strong one and that electrodes get maximum contact with the saltwater solution .
This experiment creates low levels of electricity that , well generly deemed safe , can still cause a shock.
The Science behind it
Mixing salt and water does not make electricity. However, when the salt (NaCl)ionizes in the water meaning the Na+ ions and the Cl+ separates in the water, it creates an electrolyte. The term electrolyte means that the solution of salt and water can conduct electricity.
The more salt you add to the water the bright the bulb will be
