January 13th: 7:45 AM IBM Experiment Showcase: 5th Grade science night students had the chance to go through four of the experiments (acids and bases, chromatography, “ooblek” and map coloring) that are a part of the “Family Science Saturdays” program at IBM’s T.J. Watson Research Center in Yorktown Heights, NY. These experiments were lead by IBM employee, Jim Laredo. The purpose of this meeting was not only to see the four experiments but also to see the characteristics of good, tried and true “hands-on” science experiments. At the end of the session, some groups of students chose an IBM experiment to lead at the Hands-On Science Night event.
